List price is not patient cost
NovoCare defines list price as the manufacturer's price before discounts or rebates and notes that many insured patients do not pay that amount. Current US manufacturer materials list $1,027.51 for Ozempic pen presentations. NovoCare. Those figures are not universal retail or patient prices.
Current US self-pay pricing
Current NovoCare savings terms include introductory and standard self-pay arrangements for specified Ozempic injection presentations. Program eligibility, dose presentation and timing matter, and Novo Nordisk can change or cancel commercial programs. NovoCare savings terms.
Commercial insurance savings
Manufacturer programs may allow some eligible commercially insured patients to pay substantially less than list price, subject to program caps, exclusions and eligibility. A conditional savings amount should never be presented as the universal Ozempic price.
Canada and generic semaglutide
On 28 April 2026, Health Canada authorized a generic semaglutide injection referencing Ozempic. A second generic referencing Ozempic was authorized shortly afterward. First approval · Second approval. These are different from Canada's later generic semaglutide approval referencing Wegovy for weight management.
Does generic approval prove a lower price?
No. Generic approval can increase competition, but the authorization itself does not establish one guaranteed retail discount for every patient. Actual pricing still requires market-specific evidence.
European shortage status
EMA currently states that the previous Ozempic shortage has been resolved. EMA shortage page. This is important because stale search results may still discuss the shortage as though it remains active.
United Kingdom and Australia
Ozempic cost in these markets depends on approved indication, public reimbursement, prescription pathway, private access, supply and local pricing structures. A public-health-system patient contribution cannot be compared directly with a US manufacturer list price without explaining the payment model.
India
If a reliable manufacturer or regulator-backed India price cannot be verified during production QA, the page should not substitute a pharmacy marketplace listing as the authoritative national price. The correct approach is to explain the data limitation.
Counterfeit and unauthorized products
Health Canada has warned consumers about unauthorized and counterfeit GLP-1 products, including products marketed as semaglutide and Ozempic. Unauthorized products have not been assessed for safety, effectiveness or quality. Health Canada warning. A very low price can therefore raise a product-authenticity question, not simply a bargain-shopping question.
Pricing freshness
Every numerical commercial price on this page should retain its source, review date, product, strength or presentation, price category and relevant eligibility caveat. Pricing information should be reviewed more frequently than clinical-trial evidence.
Why cross-country price tables can create false precision
A US manufacturer list price, a UK public-health-system contribution, a Canadian generic retail price and an Indian private pharmacy price do not measure the same thing. Currency conversion alone cannot make them comparable. The final page therefore explains the payment and reimbursement context before presenting international price figures.
Why access can matter more than headline price
A lower nominal price may be irrelevant if the product is not approved, reimbursed or practically available for the user's indication. Coverage rules, prescribing pathways, supply and generic availability can matter as much as the published number. This is why the cost page treats access as part of the commercial research question rather than as a separate afterthought.
Why manufacturer programs need a review date
Commercial pricing can change materially faster than clinical evidence. A self-pay offer, introductory discount or savings-card amount may be accurate on the day it is published and misleading a few months later. For that reason, every manufacturer-program figure on the final page should remain tied to a review date and source. If the program changes, the commercial section should be updated without waiting for a broader clinical-content refresh.
Why generic approval and generic pricing are different questions
A generic authorization confirms that a regulator has approved a product under the relevant pathway. It does not automatically establish when every pharmacy will stock it, what insurers will reimburse, or the final patient price. The Canada section therefore treats generic approval as an access-development milestone and keeps actual price claims separate until authoritative market data is available.
Broader research resources
Readers can separately explore consumer health research and consumer product-comparison research. These resources do not establish prescription-drug pricing or treatment equivalence.
